Stephanie Davies-Arai Sculptor

About the Sculpture

The theme running through the sculpture is the physical experience of living in the human body, using flowing lines and economy of form to express the essence of a pose, with no superfluous surface activity to distract. This simplicity of form creates immediate visual impact, but these sculptures also repay continued looking, revealing more of themselves and their hidden complexity over time.

Inspiration is drawn from forms in nature; plants, rocks, landscape - especially the South Downs where the artist lives – the figures effortlessly taking their place in  the landscape, organically related and connected to the earth.
